2001 - Veröldin er vasaklútur // The World is a Handkerchief

The Coffee Theatre, Reykjavik // The Icelandic Take Away Theatre
Director: Neil Haigh
Actors: Vala Thorsdottir and Ágústa Skúladóttir
The world is a handkerchief is written in collaboration between the actors and director. It is about two bakers who inadvertently become entangled in a social resistance movement. It was a fun experiment: The actors produced the sound effects and the stage lighting as well as all scene changes, during the performance. By doing this they tore down the “fourth wall” but at the same time created an empathetic atmosphere and understanding between the audience and the working actors as well as the characters within the play.
