The book explores the adventures and dilemmas of ten-year-old bilingual Susanna, a Polish-Icelandic girl. She is a sensitive, imaginative, and strong individual with a great sense of right and wrong. She’s in an identity crisis, having difficulty placing herself in the world since she is of two nationalities and is being bullied for being Polish and criticized for her use of Icelandic.
