"Á puttanum með pabba" is a book for children aged 7-12. The story takes place during the summer vacation of the Icelandic-Italian siblings Sonja and Frikki. The storytelling is similar to a "road movie" as they find themselves on an incredible adventure during an unexpected trip with their father.

Sonja and Frikki travel to Sicily to spend the summer with their father, grandfather, and grandmother. The vacation doesn’t start well, as their grandmother and grandfather quickly have to tend to a sick relative, and their father is offered a dream role in a film in Spain. Suddenly, no one is around in Sicily to look after the siblings. While their father tries to arrange childcare with friends and neighbors, the siblings buy tickets to fly back to Iceland. The only problem is that their mother is not at home and doesn´t answer her phone...

Their father accompanies the siblings to Iceland, believing their mother will be found quickly. However, she has gone camping on the other side of the country, in Hallormsstaður Forest, and left her phone behind. So, the father, Sonja, and Frikki embark on an uncertain journey to track her down, as otherwise, their father will miss the opportunity of a lifetime. Their father’s wallet is stolen on the way to Iceland which seriously complicates matters and the family must rely on their wits and the kindness of others to make everything work out.
